Golden moments

Luxury Travel magazine this week announced the winners of the 2016 Gold List Awards. The awards, now in their twelfth year, recognise the best in luxury travel destinations, experiences and operators across a number of categories. Online voting was open to the readers of Luxury Travel magazine and the general public to nominate their favourite operators.

A casual celebratory event was then held in the Lady Fairfax Room of the newly refurbished Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Sydney, with many of the winners and finalists in attendance.

Along with the reader votes, a wider selection of Editor’s Picks was chosen this year for each category, highlighting some of the best new properties in luxury travel. Also new to the Gold List Awards this year was our Gold List panel of specialist luxury travel agents, who nominated their picks across each category based on their expert knowledge and feedback they receive from their clients.

Each year the Gold List awards also recognise the Hall of Fame winners – those award winners who have won a category for the past five years or more. The 2016 Hall of Fame winners include The Peninsula Hong Kong for Best Overseas Hotel, Thredbo Alpine Village for Best Australian Ski Resort, Great Southern Rail for Best Luxury Rail Company, Queen Mary II for Best Luxury Cruise Ship, Large; and The Farm at Cape Kidnappers for Best Overseas Golf Resort.

All winners and finalists are published in the Autumn 2016 special issue, or here on our website.

Many thanks to our event partners: Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Sydney, Saffire Freycinet, Virtuoso, Bests Wines and La Biosthetique.
