About Hazelhurst Regional Gallery and Art Centre

Set amid landscaped gardens, Hazelhurst Regional Gallery & Arts Centre has been specifically designed to appeal to the whole community. The combination of a major public gallery with a comprehensive arts centre, cafe, theatrette and community gallery makes a unique creative resource for everyone.

The Regional Gallery presents an exciting and varied exhibition program annually. Drawn from major state, national and international collections, up to three exhibitions are presented at any one time.

About Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize

The Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize established in 2007 is a national competition that awards and promotes Australian contemporary photography and excellence in all forms of still based artwork. Photographers were invited to interpret ‘Contemporary Life in Australia’ with an emphasis on Australians going about their day-to-day life. The aim was to encourage the production of photographs taken in Australia, by Australians, that reflect the diversity, multiculturalism and uniqueness of life, no matter where in Australia. The exhibition features the works of 30 photographers including this year’s winner, Trent Mitchell for his photo Boy in Boat, Hervey Bay Qld 2015.

About 2015 Doug Moran National Portrait Prize

An exhibition showcasing the winner and finalists of the 2015 Doug Moran National Portrait Prize.
The Doug Moran National Portrait Prize is the richest award for excellence in portrait painting in Australia, currently with an annual first prize of $150,000. Following the exhibition of the 2015 Prize Finalists at Juniper Hall in Paddington (Oct 2015) the Moran Art Foundation is touring the exhibition to regional galleries in 2016 commencing with Hazelhurst.
