Kingdom of three: YTL Hotels expands UK portfolio

YTL Hotels has announced three new additions to its property collection in the United Kingdom.

The Glasshouse Hotel in Edinburgh, Monkey Island in Berkshire, and The Academy Hotel in London’s West End, have joined the YTL portfolio, which already includes The Gainsborough Bath Spa in Bath and the Muse Bray Cottages in Berkshire.

The Glasshouse Hotel is an Autograph Collection property with 77 rooms and suites, a rooftop garden spanning two acres and a city-centre location. The property once served as a church and was built in the mid-19th century.

Monkey Island Hotel is an historic property in Bray-on-Thames, Berkshire, less than an hour from central London. Surrounded by gardens and accessible by footbridge or boat over the River Thames, the property is set to undergo a redesign by New York-based Champalimaud Design, which has worked on projects for luxury hotels like The Dorchester in London and The Carlyle in New York. Monkey Island will reopen in late 2017.

The Academy hotel is a collection of five restored Georgian townhouses that together make up a 49-room boutique hotel. Its west London location is close to The British Museum, fine dining and shopping precincts, as well as the theatrical attractions of the West End. The hotel will also undergo a full refurbishment.
