Malaysia Airlines Business Class on MH123

Airline: Malaysia Airlines

Flight: MH123

Aircraft: A330-300

Route: Kuala Lumpur to Sydney

Seating: Business class

Fare: A$6,022

Flight time: 8 hours, 15 minutes

The cabin

The business class cabin comprises 36 seats arranged in pairs in a 2-2-2 configuration so every seat has either a window or aisle.

Comfort

The lie-flat seats offer a seat pitch of 60 inches and are 20 inches wide and include a 90-degree table that swivels out from the armrest – the seats offer a 12-degree sleeping angle. I managed to sleep on this overnight flight, (something that certainly would have eluded me had I been in economy) with some little helpers from the chemist shop.

Service

Friendly and helpful and no complaints.

Meals

I didn’t but business class passengers on this flight can take advantage of the chef-on-call menu which features 25 meal options including Malaysian cuisine, light meals and healthy choices. These meals can be ordered in advance online as well. The current menu includes options like braised lamb shanks, cod papillote, nasi lemak with prawn sambal and waffle with pineapple filling and pastry cream. Malaysia Airlines has been serving its famous satay sticks for decades now and they were as yummy as always.

Entertainment

The Malaysia Airlines inflight entertainment system offers the latest movies and TV shows plus multi-player games and music. Business class passengers can enjoy the show on 15.4-inch screens and take advantage of personal power outlets for keeping electronic devices charged.

Baggage

Business class passengers are allowed to bring up to two pieces each weighing a generous 40 kilograms. Check-in privileges include dedicated check-in and faster immigration clearance upon arrival and departure from Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

Loyalty program

Joining Malaysia Airlines’ loyalty program Enrich means you can earn miles with your credit card spending, car rentals and also when booking with the airlines lifestyle partners. Miles can be redeemed for award flights on Malaysia Airlines, Enrich partner airlines and Oneworld airlines, plus excess baggage vouchers. Malaysian Airlines is part of the Oneworld alliance.

Departures

A slightly delayed departure was redeemed with an on-time arrival in Sydney.
