Five-bedroom villa Mandala the Bay has opened on the Indonesian island of Nusa Lembongan. Surrounded by waters that are perfect for diving, surfing and snorkelling, this 1200 square-metre island hideaway showcases design that blends traditional Balinese and modernist architecture.
Relax in the teak-carved Joglo master bedroom, sip cocktails at the professionally designed bar, take a dip in an ocean-view swimming pool, or relax in the resort’s library. The residence also comes complete with gardens that are coloured with fragrant frangipani trees and bright pink bougainvillea. In addition, the cliffside firepit is surrounded by banquette seats carved from rock in the cliffside, offering sunset views and directly facing the crashing waves at iconic Devil’s Tear across the bay. When you’re ready to peel yourself off the pool lounger, petite Nusa Lembongan is ripe for exploration and can be hiked in two hours – longer if you can’t help but stop for a dip at the white sandy beaches dotted along the way.
