New look on the tracks

Great Southern Rail’s staff members will now be wearing new, stylish and durable uniforms created by Australian fashion designer Juli Grbac and Australian outfitter, R.M. Williams.

After a two-year design process, the new-look uniforms are the rail company’s first redesign in eight years and consist of navy trousers or a skirt with a striped R.M. Williams shirt.

Variations include an Akubra hat, a taupe blazer, a puffer vest and jumper, and steel-cap boots. The uniforms are intended to represent the exhibition-style journeys that the trains make every day in all Australian climates and destinations.

Grbac was the first winner of the Australian version of popular US fashion design television series Project Runway. Her previous projects include redesigning the uniforms for staff at Virgin Australia.
