New Ritz Carlton hotel opens on Lake Geneva

The 152 year-old Hotel de la Paix in Geneva has reopened its doors as a Ritz-Carlton following an extensive multi-million dollar refurbishment. The Hotel de la Paix, located on the picturesque shores of Lake Geneva, is the luxury hotel brand’s first property in Switzerland. All 74 guest rooms and suites have been restyled with a sleek and modern design, and feature floor to ceiling windows revealing dramatic views of the lake, Mont Blanc Square and the Jet d’Eau. The Grace Kelly Suite, named after the Princess of Monaco who was a regular guest at the hotel, features art deco design and gold leaf gilding.

The hotel has hosted various high-profile guests and events over the years, including the Monaco Royal Family and the International Congress of Peace. This heritage is reflected in the hallways of the hotel’s atrium, where guests can find a display of tapestries featuring historical figures who have played a key role in peacemaking, such as Victor Hugo and Giuseppe Garibaldi.

Two new dining facilities have been added, including a Nordic-style seafood restaurant complete with a fresh fish counter and minimalist communal seating.
