Qantas opens new international lounge in Brisbane

A new Qantas international lounge has opened for travellers at Brisbane Airport, the first of several new Qantas facilities to be unveiled at the airport over the coming months as part of a multi-million-dollar upgrade.

Mirroring the design of lounges at Hong Kong and Singapore, the Brisbane lounge is split across two levels and offers around 30 per cent more space than the previous lounges. Interiors have been designed to reflect Queensland’s tropical, relaxed natural attractions with a colour palette reflecting the reef, sandbars and waterways of the region’s coast.

Artist Jenna Lee has created a bespoke art installation that draws inspiration from Queensland’s landscapes as viewed from above. Called The Pulse of Our Ancient Land, the installation uses glass, watercolour and lights and was inspired by shared stories from a group of respected Indigenous elders from each of the language groups of South East Queensland.

Guests of the lounge can dine from seasonal Rockpool-designed menus by Neil Perry, with a signature breakfast hatch offering breakfast bowls, Bircher muesli and French toast to order. A new lounge concept called Quench serves a range of non-alcoholic beverages including a signature tisane blend by Rockpool. A bar serving premium wine and beer is also available.

Qantas has also scheduled a new domestic lounge precinct with a new Business Lounge and refreshed Qantas Club and Valet experience, to open in 2017.

The Qantas Brisbane International Lounge is open to Qantas customers travelling in Business, eligible Frequent Flyers and oneworld members.
