Australian owned tour operator Chimu Adventures has just launched an exclusive new sail and ski expedition in Antarctica. Catered to thrill seekers and experienced skiers, this five-person tour will see guests housed on an expedition sailing yacht, ski the untouched Antarctica slopes and go sea kayaking among glaciers and Gentoo penguin colonies.
The 28-day tour is scheduled in for November 2017 and departs in Ushuaia in Argentina. The first three days are spent sailing the Drake and becoming accustomed to life at sea with the remainder of the tour a combination of skiing the summits, sailing to new ports and climbing to the top of peaks, before finally docking at Ushuaia in Argentina.
Lead by a highly experienced skipper and expedition leader the tour includes training, safety gear, the use of satellite phones, accommodation in Ushuaia, meals and skis, sleds or kayaks that may be used. It is necessary for skiers to have a level four or equivalent good health fitness rating and be capable of skiing blue or black runs in order to embark on this epic adventure.
