Five-star luxury hotel brand Shangri-La has just opened a new 344-room property in Harbin, China. The brand’s second hotel in Harbin, Songbei Shangri-La is set on the north bank of the Songhua River with guest rooms and suites featuring floor to ceiling windows overlooking views of the city and the river.

The rooms are designed with a contemporary Chinese influence and are fitted out with local art pieces, marble bathrooms and a walk-in wardrobe. Among the most luxurious accommodation options are the Lilac, Songbei and Shangri-La Suites located on the top floor of the hotel. Included in select room rates is access to the Horizon Club Lounge with privileges such as express check-in and checkout, complimentary breakfast, all day refreshments and evening cocktails.

Dining options are varied and draw on traditional Chinese cuisine, from the offering of Peking roast duck at the hotel’s main restaurant Shang Kitchen, to De Drunk’n Pig; the hotel’s specialty bar serving local beers and pork dishes in an urban fit out with a resident DJ. Café Song serves up an international buffet and blackboard menu with diners able to see preparation in real time at the cafes’ three live culinary theatres.

The hotel’s health club features a gym, indoor swimming pool, sauna and steam rooms with the CHI, the hotel’s private spa suite offering treatments that draw on traditional Chinese Philosophy.

The hotel currently has an opening special with room rates priced at RMB 1,350 (about A$261) per night inclusive of a daily buffet breakfast.
