Salamanca has a number of restaurants, cafes, bars, art galleries and also Peacock Theatre. The State Theatre and Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery is also a short walk away.

The Henry Jones Art Hotel is a mix of the traditional building and contemporary design with artworks installed throughout; it is Australia’s first dedicated Art Hotel. The former IXL Jam factory is a row of historic warehouses dating from the 1820’s and has been transformed into a sophisticated boutique with a rich history with 56 rooms and suites.

The Henry Jones Art Hotel has a full time Art curator and History Liaison, who take tours of the hotel and the art that is showcased. The History Liaison takes tours of the hotel, sharing Henry Jones’ story, IXL jam legacy and the history of Tasmania; in particular the waterfront that the hotel resides in. The hotel is a gallery, curated by the Art Liaison showcasing the work of local Tasmanian artists and has over 400 Tasmanian artworks displayed.
