Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort, nestled in Thailand’s legendary Golden Triangle, is renowned for its elephant camp, established in 2003 in collaboration with the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation (GTAEF). Initially aimed at rescuing street-begging elephants, the camp now provides a jungle home for 20 elephants, including COVID refugees, along with their mahouts and families.
The GTAEF’s expanded efforts encompass the protection of wild elephants, welfare standards promotion, scientific research and veterinary best practices in Thailand and Cambodia. The resort is committed to sustainability, with initiatives such as replacing plastic straws and water bottles, and a forthcoming rooftop solar panel project. Sustainable dining practices involve local partnerships and organic sourcing, while indigenous wellness programs and traditional medicine practitioners offer unique experiences. The GTAEF plays a vital role in elephant welfare, rescuing and protecting these magnificent creatures from the streets and promoting their long-term well-being, ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
