Taj Lake Palace

Taj Lake Palace, an 18th-century marvel, appears to magically float on Lake Pichola. Built by Maharana Jagat Singh II, it served as a royal summer retreat until Maharana Bhagwat Singh transformed it into a heritage hotel in 1963.
Crafted from locally sourced marble, the palace blends Mughal and Mewari architectural influences. With 65 luxurious rooms and 18 grand suites, it regained worldwide fame as a filming location for the James Bond film, Octopussy. The island location affords breathtaking views of City Palace, Aravalli Hills, Machla Magra Hills and Jag Mandir from every room.
The palace’s restaurants, exclusive to resident guests, offer diverse cuisines, including authentic Rajasthani at Neel Kamal and contemporary European dishes at the open-air Bhairo. Amrit Sagar bar, meanwhile, serves signature martinis and cocktails. Guests can also experience regal pampering at the J Wellness Circle, drawing from India’s wellness heritage and royal savoir vivre.
Taj Lake Palace continues the tradition of grand soirees once hosted by the Udaipur royal family. Known as the ‘Venice of the East’, Udaipur boasts palaces, lakes, temples, gardens and other attractions, with vintage car tours available to explore the city of lakes.
