Recently, the resort released its second Impact Report, showcasing the achievements of The Datai Pledge, a comprehensive sustainability, conservation and community support initiative launched in August 2021. This program focuses on marine life, terrestrial wildlife, local youth and overall sustainability. Notable accomplishments include achieving zero-waste-to-landfill status, saving significant waste and glass bottles, nurturing critically endangered seedlings in a Native Tree Nursery, creating a trans-island wildlife corridor and establishing an in-situ hatchery for turtles, resulting in the first turtle landing in over a decade in Datai Bay.

The Datai Pledge aligns with the resort’s vision of harmonising people and nature and seeks to integrate conservation and sustainability across all aspects of its operations, promoting the thriving biodiversity of Langkawi and the local community. Activities for 2022-23 include pursuing Carbon Neutral status by 2024, expanding zero-waste initiatives, and enhancing coral studies and sea turtle conservation efforts. The Datai Langkawi has garnered certifications such as Asean Green Hotel Standard Certification 2020, EarthCheck Silver Certification 2019 & 2021, and the Malaysia Green Hotel Certification 2019, underscoring its commitment to sustainability.
