Perched atop an 80-storey tower, The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne, unveiled in March 2023, offers an oasis of elevated luxury that pays homage to Australia’s rich cultural heritage. Designed by Cottee Parker and featuring interiors by BAR Studio, the hotel beautifully blends Melbourne’s Victorian-era, European influences with its urban laneway charm. Occupying the top 17 floors of the West Side Place development, the design contrasts raw and refined elements, reflecting both international sophistication and local character.
Throughout the hotel, guests embark on a vertical journey, tracing narratives of local culture and history. From Indigenous art in the arrival lobby to the level-80 sky lobby with panoramic city views, the hotel celebrates Melbourne’s essence. Guestrooms, situated from levels 65 to 79, provide a comfortable residential sanctuary above the city, embracing art, design and local flair. The hotel’s spa and pool on level 64 evoke a beachside retreat, while The Ritz-Carlton Club on level 79 exudes an “establishment club” aesthetic.
Function rooms on levels 1 and 2, including a 600-seat ballroom inspired by Melbourne’s NGV Great Hall, offer diverse event spaces. A curated art collection integrates Melbourne’s cultural life into the hotel’s design, featuring works by celebrated local contemporary artists and creating a strong representation of First Nations artists. The hotel’s seamless integration of local art and design reflects the brand’s commitment to showcasing local creators. Moreover, the West Side Place development earned a 5-Star Green Star Rating, aligning with energy and environmental standards.
