Places To Stay

An expat hub, Ubud in the Balinese high country is Bali’s cultural capital and home to good restaurants, cafes, boutiques and artisan shops. Amandari is 15 minutes by car out of town and away from the often congested streets of Ubud, and is set amidst rice terraces and sacred grounds.

Walking Distance To

From Amandari rice paddies, the village of Kedewatan and the Ayung River can all be explored on foot. White-water rafting along the Ayung River makes for a novel way of seeing Bali’s lush tropical rainforest and the starting point is within walking distance of the resort. To reach Ubud, Amandari provides guests with complimentary car transfers.

Size and Style

Amandari is designed in the style of a traditional Balinese village with winding stone walkways and hand-carved stonewalls. You won’t find any apartment-style accommodation here. Each standalone suite opens into a private, stone walled garden with an outdoor bath and views across rice fields. Amandari, like all of the much adored Aman properties, is boutique in scale. There are 30 suites and one three-bedroom villa nestled in rice terraces less than a minute’s drive from the resort.

The suites, with sliding glass doors on three sides, open onto garden courtyards made private by stonewalls. Some suites have private, outdoor plunge pools while others have outdoor baths.

The Amandari villa has five separate pavilions, a garden and swimming pool. It is comprised of three detached bedrooms located around a glass-walled living room and kitchen. The villa is serviced by two staff.

Guest Profile

From young newly-weds to retirees, guests travel from all around the world but there is also a significant number of local visitors. Many guests travel with children. Aman guests tend to be brand loyalists and are sometimes referred to as Aman junkies. They like the boutique scale of the properties, the generous size of the accommodations and the ultra-luxury service the smaller scale affords.

Airport Transfers

Amandari is approximately 60minutes from Denpasar’s international airport. Complimentary airport transfers with refreshments are provided.

You Need To Know

The pathway that runs through Amandari and down the valley to the river below is on what is said to be sacred land. Every six months for hundreds of years, Balinese from the village of Kedewatan, where Amandari is located, take the path down to a pool of holy water. Just above this spring-fed pool sit three modest shrines and a 7th century tiger carved in stone. The story of the Angels & the Gods is immortalized in a stone mural carving found on the wall behind the tiger statue.

Experiences on offer from the resort include on site-cooking classes, trekking and/or biking through the surrounding rice terraces and tropical jungle, ceremonies, dance performances, rituals and theatre in the community village.

Any VIP facilities available to some guests
