25Hours Hotel The Olympia debuts bringing bold design and layered storytelling to a historic Oxford Street site
25hours Hotel The Olympia has opened in Sydney‘s Eastern Suburbs, marking the brand’s Australian debut and parent company Ennismore’s growing global portfolio. Set within the heritage-listed, former West Olympia Theatre and the Grand Pacific Blue Room on Oxford Street, the 109-room hotel marks a new chapter for one of Sydney’s most storied buildings.
“Bringing 25hours to Sydney is a very special moment for us. From the beginning, our vision has been to create hotels that are tied to their settings and are rich in character” said Christoph Hoffmann, Founder of 25hours Hotels. “The Olympia is a perfect match for that philosophy: a historic theatre with a colourful past, at the intersection of some of Sydney’s most vibrant neighbourhoods.
In keeping with this ethos, The Olympia draws on the urban building’s cinematic past, with bold design details, original heritage features and artwork by local creatives, including Sydney artist Kubi Vasak. The lobby nods to the golden age of film, with rooms thematically split into two character types – “Dreamers” and “Renegades”. The Dreamers, located on levels two and four, are light-filled with soft blue tones and curated lighting, while The Renegades, on levels one and three, are feature moodier palettes, bold artwork and an edgier tone. Tonkin Zulaikha Greer, Indyk Architects and Woods Bagot collaborated on the hotel’s design.

Food and drink is central to the guest experience, with four distinct venues anchoring the hotel. Culinary Director Mitch Orr oversees The Palomar, a 110-seat restaurant inspired by Studio Paskin’s London venue, bringing together flavours from Southern Europe, North Africa and the Levant using local produce and an open kitchen format.
Also open are The Mulwray, an intimate wine and cocktail bar celebrating biodynamic wines and named after the iconic Evelyn Mulwray from Chinatown; Jacob the Angel, a ground-floor coffee house offering specialty coffee and pastries by Lune Croissanterie; and Monica, a rooftop venue envisioned by Carte Blanched as a nostalgic ode to 1960s Hollywood glamour, layered with a modern Sydney vibe. Each venue has been developed by sibling duo Layo and Zoë Paskin, founders of London’s acclaimed Studio Paskin.

Positioned at the intersection of five distinct Eastern Suburbs neighbourhoods – Paddington, Surry Hills, Darlinghurst, Kings Cross and Moore Park – the hotel aims to function as a local gathering point as much as a destination stay, with programming to include community events and activations.

The hotel also features retail and lifestyle collaborations with Sorry Thanks I Love You, Kreafunk, Soeder, Samova, Canvasco, and Freitag, bringing together fashion, music, art and design.
“This isn’t just a hotel opening, it’s the revitalisation of one of Sydney’s most iconic addresses, and a cultural catalyst for Oxford Street’s next chapter,” said Jake Guilfoyle, General Manager, 25hours Hotel The Olympia. “Our vision is for The Olympia to be as much a home for Sydneysiders as it is for international travellers, a place where the city’s creative and social energy converge.”
Rooms at 25Hours Hotel The Olympia are now available to book, with opening rates from $399 per night.
