Anantara opens new hotel in Amsterdam
Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky

Continuing its expansion in Europe, Anantara has opened the doors to a refurbished 402-room luxury hotel in Amsterdam.

Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky has opened in central Amsterdam, bringing the global brand’s wellness-oriented hospitality to the Netherlands. Overlooking Dam Square and facing the Royal Palace, the hotel is ideally located for experiencing some of Amsterdam’s most popular cultural attractions, including the Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum.

A former coffee house that opened in 1856, the building was eventually transformed into a storied hotel which now has 402 rooms and suites, five dining and drinking concepts, and a spa.

Rooms and suites have been refurbished incorporating Dutch heritage with contemporary touches throughout. Warm tones and soft fabrics have been included alongside furniture inspired by mid-century designs.

The White Room is the hotel’s fine dining destination, helmed by renowned chef Jacob Jan Boerma. Boerma’s modern menus feature imaginative dishes using ingredients sourced from the Netherlands, which are served in grand, opulent surroundings. The restaurant was awarded a Michelin star in the 2022 Guide.

Facing Dam Square, The Champagne Room offers a vast selection of labels by the glass, while The Tailor bar serves creative cocktails in a warm, welcoming space. The hotel’s Wintergarden is the site for daily breakfast, served under a striking 19-century glass roof.

The coastal dunes of the Netherlands are said to have been the inspiration behind the design of the new Anantara spa, which has three treatment rooms, Finnish, wet and infrared saunas, and a gym with Technogym equipment and a rotating climbing wall. Treatments integrate Thai techniques with Swissline products, while a relaxation area overlooks a landscaped Summer Garden.

A program of local activities has been designed to assist guests in creating lasting memories with loved ones—families can picnic at Amsterdamse Bos Park, or romantic dinners can be arranged onboard one of the city’s canal boats.

Room rates start at €450 (about AUD$693) per night.
