Showcasing works and objets d’art by Australian artists, the new Neale Whitaker suite at Laneways by Ovolo has been personally curated by the television personality and design enthusiast.
Melbourne’s Laneways by Ovolo hotel has unveiled its collaboration with the television personality and design aficionado Neale Whitaker, with a suite featuring a selection of limited-edition objects, soft furnishings, and artworks curated by Whitaker in partnership with design studio, Luchetti Krelle.
Showcasing an array of Australian artists was an important consideration for Whitaker, with the resulting collection including a large painting by Melbourne artist Nunzio Miano, a highly sought-after lamp by Sarah Nedovic Gaunt, and a portrait of Whitaker created by artist and former Ovolo staffer, Flynn Cowan.
Formerly known as 303, the room was frequented by Whitaker over several years, leading to it being known unofficially as his personal suite. The resulting design collaboration came about “by accident”, he says.
“The reason I love this room is because of its corner position, which has amazing windows looking to the most gorgeous tree and old stuccoed wall outside, leading through to views of the rooftops and towers of the CBD”, he adds.
Guests who book the suite will also have access to a playlist featuring 100 of Whitaker’s favourite songs.
The new Neal Whitaker Suite is the latest project at the property, following the opening of the elevated taproom, Amphlett House.
