Lounge in comfort

Cathay Pacific has a new airport lounge in London.

Cathay Pacific has unveiled its new First and Business Class lounge at London Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 3, due to open on December 7.

Now 30 percent larger than than its predecessor, the 1,200 square metre lounge has been completely redesigned by London-based design studio Studioilse, and follows in the footsteps of the airline’s award-winning Hong Kong International lounge; echoing the trademark contemporary Asian aesthetics and featuring two separate First and Business class areas. The Heathrow lounge facilitates Cathay Pacific’s strengthened presence in the UK, with five flights operating daily between Heathrow and Hong Kong.

The lounge’s calm, tranquil environment is fostered by the abundance of plants and floor-to-ceiling windows which reveal panoramic views of the airport’s northern runway. The space also features specially sourced artworks by Chinese artist Han Feng.

Cathay Pacific General Manager James Evans has emphasised the airline’s focus on traveller experience.

“Our exciting new Heathrow lounge was designed to enable our customers to travel well,” he says. “Our aim was to provide our passengers with a tranquil haven to relax before boarding their flights to Hong Kong and we hope our customers are as enthusiastic about the new lounge as we are.”

The lounge has been designed with a particular focus on food and amenities, with eight shower suites, separate work spaces, a full-service bar and several dining areas including the airline’s signature Noodle Bar in the Business Class area. The First lounge features The Dining Room, which offers table service and dishes made-to-order by the chef, and The Pantry, with ‘grab-and-go’ delicacies which change throughout the day.

Cathay Pacific’s Heathrow lounge is open to First and Business Class passengers, Silver or above Marco Polo Club members, and Sapphire or above oneworld members. Opening hours are from 5:30am from Monday to Saturday and 7:30am on Sunday until 10:30pm.
