A new luxury safari camp is set to open in Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park in late 2025, offering travellers close access to one of Africa’s most renowned wildlife corridors.
Mapito Safari Camp, Serengeti, Autograph Collection will be located near the Fort Ikoma gate, between the Central Serengeti and the western corridor, directly along the path of the Great Migration — the seasonal journey of over a million wildebeest, zebra and antelope. The area is also home to a wide range of resident wildlife, with lion, elephant, buffalo, giraffe and leopard regularly sighted across the open plains.

The camp will feature 16 tented suites, including a two-bedroom villa, each designed with a private deck, outdoor fire pit, and a retractable roof for stargazing — a first for the region. Additional facilities will include a swimming pool, spa, fitness centre, and several dining areas, including The Boma, a restaurant built around the concept of communal fireside meals.
Design plans aim to reflect both the surrounding landscape and the local Ikoma culture, with an emphasis on minimising environmental impact. According to parent company Marriott International the camp will incorporate sustainable materials and conservation-focused practices where possible, in line with growing demand for responsible travel options in protected areas.

Guests will be able to take part in a range of guided activities, including day and night game drives, walking safaris, and hot air balloon flights over the plains. Cultural experiences with local communities are also expected to form part of the guest offering.
Mapito Safari Camp will operate under Marriott International’s Autograph Collection, a portfolio of independently styled hotels selected for their distinctive character. It will be the brand’s first entry into the safari segment and one of only a few international operators in the Serengeti region.
The camp is currently under development and is expected to open to guests in late 2025.
