Australia’s first mainland Luxury Collection property to open on the Gold Coast
Marina Mirage Gold Coast to join Marriott’s Luxury Collection portfolio, bringing elegance and sophistication to the iconic waterfront precinct
Marriott International has announced a significant expansion of its luxury hotel portfolio in Australia with the planned opening of Marina Mirage Gold Coast, a Luxury Collection Resort. The new resort, set to open in 2027, will be the first mainland Luxury Collection property in Australia and will be within the Marina Mirage mixed-use precinct on the Gold Coast.
The Marina Mirage Gold Coast will feature 122 guest rooms, including villas and residences. The development will also include a signature restaurant, expansive function and event spaces, a rooftop bar and pool, a wellness and beauty centre, and a state-of-the-art marina. The resort aims to embody sophistication and elegance with a distinctive Gold Coast interpretation.
Richard Crawford, Vice President of Hotel Development for Australia, New Zealand, and Pacific at Marriott International, expressed enthusiasm for the project. “The re-imagination of the iconic Marina Mirage precinct presents an inspiring opportunity to expand our luxury footprint on the Gold Coast,” Crawford said. “The destination’s resilience during and post-pandemic has been remarkable, and we are very confident that proven demand for high-quality hotel experiences will be a strong foundation for the success of our first Luxury Collection property on mainland Australia.”
The project is being spearheaded by the family-owned Makris Group, which has owned the Marina Mirage site since 2013. Jason Makris, Makris Group CEO, highlighted the development’s meticulous planning and innovative architecture. “As part of The Luxury Collection, the new Marina Mirage will deliver an authentic resort and destination with a diverse array of local award-winning restaurants and boutiques, wellness health and beauty facilities, a new state-of-the-art marina, and for the first time, a limited selection of villas and residences,” Makris said.
The resort will join Marriott International’s expanding portfolio of over 130 Luxury Collection hotels and resorts worldwide. Locally, it will join other Marriott International properties on the Gold Coast, including JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa and Sheraton Grand Mirage Gold Coast.
Marina Mirage Gold Coast will offer unique and authentic experiences that evoke lasting memories, positioning it as a gateway to one of the world’s most desirable destinations. The development aligns with Marriott’s commitment to providing luxury experiences while contributing positively to the local economy and tourism industry.
