Paspaley Pearl completes successful sea trials ahead of major refit
Paspaley Pearl by PONANT
The boutique expedition yacht by the famous Australian pearl brand will float out in the Asia Pacific region from 2025
The boutique expedition yacht Paspaley Pearl has successfully completed its sea trials off the coast of Fremantle, Western Australia. This significant milestone marks the final operational test before the vessel undergoes a multi-million-dollar refurbishment to offer an elevated luxury experience in the Asia-Pacific region.
Captain David Marionneau, Director of Marine Operations Asia Pacific at PONANT, expressed his satisfaction with the trial, stating, “The sea trials were a resounding success. Paspaley Pearl exhibited superb manoeuvring capabilities and promises unparalleled comfort with its latest technology, including the quiet Azimuth propulsion system.” He highlighted that the ship’s stabilisers, as well as its bow and stern thrusters, performed excellently, ensuring maximum stability and comfort for future guests.
Originally launched in late 2021, Paspaley Pearl will soon undergo a complete transformation. The refurbishment will introduce refreshed livery, newly designed interiors, and expansive open decks featuring multiple dining, lounge, and bar options. The vessel will maintain its boutique appeal, accommodating just 30 guests with a crew of 21, including four dedicated expedition guides.
The yacht will begin operations in East Indonesia in January 2025, marking the beginning of a new era in boutique expedition travel. With its limited capacity and bespoke service, Paspaley Pearl aims to provide a superyacht-style experience coupled with transformational visits to some of the most remote and unique destinations in the Asia Pacific.
The yacht’s inauguration will coincide with PONANT and Paspaley’s broader commitment to responsible tourism and environmental stewardship. As part of their long-standing quest to discover the rarest and most valuable pearls in the world, Paspaley continues to operate in the pristine and remote Kimberley region of Australia, ensuring their practices align with the highest environmental standards.
