Set on Shura Island within the Kingdom’s ambitious Red Sea development, the new EDITION resort pairs clean, contemporary design with a regenerative, solar-powered approach to luxury on Saudi Arabia’s emerging coastline
EDITION Hotels has expanded its Middle Eastern portfolio with the opening of The Red Sea EDITION, a new island resort set along a kilometre of private beachfront on Saudi Arabia’s western coastline.
Developed in partnership with Red Sea Global, the 240-key property is the first hotel to open on Shura Island – the flagship destination within the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 tourism strategy. Once complete, the island will host a collection of world-class resorts, marinas and dining venues, all connected to the mainland by Saudi Arabia’s longest internal bridge.

Designed by Rockwell Group, the resort’s low-lying stone and timber pavilions draw inspiration from the surrounding desert and reef landscapes. Interiors are defined by coral-toned textures, rammed-earth walls and custom rooftops shaped to echo the forms of underwater coral. Natural oak, coral stone floors and neutral hues create a palette that mirrors the dunes and sea, with floor-to-ceiling glass framing views across the Red Sea or Shura Links – Saudi Arabia’s first 18-hole island golf course by Brian Curley.
Accommodation includes 240 rooms and 53 suites, some featuring terraces or private plunge pools, alongside a spa, gym, outdoor pools, lounges and a collection of dining venues. Signature restaurant Anasa, led by Saudi chef Basma Elkhereiji, offers Aegean-inspired cuisine focused on local sourcing. At Jiwa Beach Club, Indonesian chefs bring bold, island flavours to an open-air setting with bonfires and live music, while the Lobby Bar transitions from morning coffee to evening cocktails.

As part of Red Sea Global’s regenerative approach, the resort is powered entirely by solar energy and integrated into one of the world’s most ecologically ambitious tourism developments – an archipelago of 90 islands fringed by coral reefs and lagoons.

“The opening of The Red Sea EDITION marks a major milestone for both the brand and the destination,” said Tony Coveney, Area General Manager for Marriott Luxury Group – The Red Sea. “We’re proud to bring EDITION’s contemporary aesthetic and service ethos to Shura Island, setting a new benchmark for modern luxury in the region.”
The Red Sea EDITION joins The Jeddah EDITION as the brand’s second property in Saudi Arabia, with further Middle Eastern openings planned in the coming years.
