Celebrating the relaunch of Luxury Travel magazine

Travel and media professionals gathered recently in Sydney to celebrate the return of Australia’s Luxury Travel magazine into the market.

More than 70 professionals from the luxury travel, media and design industries gathered in Sydney last week to celebrate the relaunch of our print title, the 82nd edition of Luxury Travel magazine with a ‘best in luxury travel’ theme.

After nearly a three-year hiatus since the last issue, and under the exciting new ownership of Indesign Media Asia Pacific, Luxury Travel magazine is a celebration in print of the world of authentic, design-driven and sustainable travels, complementing our constant cycle of digital news stories, reviews and articles at luxurytravelmag.com.au.

Indesign Media Asia Pacific (IMAP), also publishers of Indesignlive.com, indesignlive.sg, indesignlive.hk, Habitus and Architecture & Design, hosted the stylish event at its new Sydney head office in Holdsworth street Woollahra in its light and bright two-storey corner office, a former art gallery, in a coveted location in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

Feasting on Sydney rock oysters, prawns, premium cheese and charcuterie and sipping on Veuve Clicquot Champagne, guests heard from Indesign Media Asia Pacific Chairman, Raj Nandan, about the special connection to this address, just metres from where he and CEO Kavita Lala, planned and launched their own publishing business in 2000. Today, IMAP remains family-owned and has grown to a team of 55 staff working from offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Editor, Katrina Holden welcomed guests and spoke of the long-standing esteem in which Luxury Travel has been held since its launch in 2000, by both industry and loyal readers, who have been excited to see the magazine revived once more.

“You’ll see on our front cover our core editorial content pillars that we have decided to state loud and proud, right up the top: Authenticity, Design and Sustainability. We find these elements to be intrinsic to the modern luxury travel movement. These are the angles we’re really homing in on because this is what we believe the modern luxury traveller identifies with and is looking for,” said Katrina.

She added, “The changes we’re seeing right now in terms of tourism best practice and the ways we interact with other cultures, environments and wildlife, is extremely encouraging and inspiring,” she said.

For the 196-page ‘best in luxury travel’ relaunch issue, Editor Katrina Holden commissioned some of Australia’s most respected travel writers to contribute feature articles that inspire and evoke readers, taking them virtually along with them as they describe journeys to destinations such as Fiji, Switzerland, Zambia, Doha, Marlborough and more.

Readers can also find inspiration for their next trip by exploring the best in cruising, luxury rail journeys, adventure experiences, wellness resorts, regenerative tourism experiences and design-led resorts.

Publisher of Luxury Travel, Kavita Lala, spoke of the exciting time for the business to launch into travel, already speaking to high-net-worth individuals with a love of premium travel destinations and experiences. She shared the team’s vision to continue to grow the Luxury Travel website, luxurytravelmag.com.au, the print title and its custom publishing service for travel brands and partners through its specialist content creation division of the business, C-Gen.

The return of the annual Gold List awards, established in 2005, was also announced at the event, with the Gold List issue due out in November 2023. The magazine’s core content pillars will feature more prominently in revised award categories that will be updated to better align with its new direction.

Issue 82 of Luxury Travel magazine is on sale now in newsagents and airports nationally, as well as available to purchase single issues online.
