Rooftop glamping in Los Angeles

Try s’mores made with 24 karat gold leaf and sleep in a lavish rooftop tent fitted out with a crystal chandelier, fur rugs and antique night stands.

The historic Beverly Wilshire has just launched a rooftop glamping experience that offers guests sweeping views not of bushland and native wildlife but of Los Angeles locals, Hollywood Hills and Rodeo Drive.

Pitched on the 200-square metre terrace of the Verandah Suite Terrace, accessible only by a wrought iron and marble staircase, the near five-metre tent has been furnished with a queen-sized bed, a crystal chandelier, marble lamps, fur rugs and antique night stands.

For dinner guests can keep warm by the outdoor fireplace while the Executive Chef prepares a glamping tasting menu featuring special reserve ossetra caviar and Japanese Mishima wagyu beef alongside a selection of seasonal plates based on picnic favourites. For dessert, executive pastry chef Chris Ford will serve up campfire s’mores made from 24 karat gold leaf, Tahitian vanilla bean marshmallow, and a smoked 55 percent Valrhona chocolate bar paired with a vintage Champagne flight.

Urban glamping is available throughout December 2017 and rates start from US$3,500 (about A$4,495).
