Sofitel Sydney Wentworth debuts new dining venues

Tilda and Bar Tilda are part of House Made Hospitality’s new four-venue inner-city precinct opening at Sofitel Sydney Wentworth this month

New hospitality venues, Tilda and Bar Tilda, have opened today in the lobby of Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, whose top-to-toe renovation will be complete in the coming weeks. Both dining venues have been designed by renowned firm Fender Katsalidis, who have drawn on the colours of the Australian landscape, incorporating earthy tones and textures – from banquettes inspired by the red dust of the desert to tables with burgundy marmoleum.

Tilda’s menu has been designed to capture the essence of contemporary Australian dining, led by Executive Chef Elliott Pinn and Head Chef Nathanael Merchant. Diners can choose from dishes such as scallops with lemon myrtle and tamarind, or spaghettini with pippies, pancetta, and white wine; while seafood selections feature sustainably caught fish, such as line-caught ruby snapper and Murray cod. Dessert highlights include Australian twists on classics, including a lemon cheesecake trifle and an upside-down pineapple cake with whisky anglaise.

Across the hall, Bar Tilda will hero live nu-jazz music, creating a sense of nostalgia within a sophisticated, modern space showcasing a moody palette of burgundy walls, marble countertops and intimate lighting. Guests can savour over 100 Australian whiskies showcased in the eye-catching Whisky Armoire, offering everything from rare single malts to prized early editions from the 1990s. Whisky flights and the exclusive Tilda Martini Experience allow visitors to engage directly with their drinks, with bartenders customising martinis tableside.

An easygoing yet refined menu of small bites is on offer at Bar Tilda, including cacio e pepe popcorn and loaded fries. More substantial options available include a Rangers Valley Black Onyx rump cap with peppercorn sauce and a classic tilda cheeseburger with fries. 

Tilda and Bar Tilda are part of House Made Hospitality’s new four-venue inner-city precinct opening at Sofitel Sydney Wentworth. Vietnamese-French fusion restaurant Delta Rue and breezy rooftop escape, Wentworth Bar, will open later this month.
