Launching in September 2025, the champagne house will stage its Le Picnic concept on Langford Island in the Whitsundays, paired with tailored packages at InterContinental Hayman Island

Veuve Clicquot will launch its Le Picnic experience on the Great Barrier Reef this September, marking the concept’s Australian debut. The event will take place on Langford Island in the Whitsundays and run through March 2026, following earlier editions in France, Japan, Spain and the United States.

A short sail from InterContinental Hayman Island, Langford Island’s tidal sand spit will provide the stage for the event. The setting will be styled in partnership with Provencal lifestyle brand Souleiado, whose bespoke textiles and serviceware will create a tailored outdoor dining environment.

Menus will be influenced by Analiese Gregory, the chef who left Michelin-starred kitchens in Paris and Sydney to pursue a seasonal life in Tasmania. Hayman Island’s chefs will prepare dishes informed by her approach, including mud crab finger sandwiches, chargrilled octopus with smoked and pickled currants, and rainforest honey madeleines with strawberry. A Veuve Clicquot sommelier will pair the menu with Yellow Label and Rosé.

Accommodation will centre on InterContinental Hayman Island, with three packages available. ‘Australia’s Most Exclusive Picnic Buyout’ is priced from AU$75,000 for up to 20 guests and includes private boat transfers, bespoke styling, a menu inspired by Analiese Gregory with champagne pairings, live music and three nights in Pool Access or Pool View Suites. For two guests, ‘Australia’s Most Exclusive Picnic Escape’ starts from AU$5,500 and features the Le Picnic experience with three nights’ accommodation and transfers, while in-house guests can add ‘Australia’s Most Exclusive Picnic’ from AU$650 per couple.

Veuve Clicquot and InterContinental Hayman Island will also partner with the Great Barrier Reef Foundation to plant coral in honour of every booking. “Le Picnic is testament to the optimism and joy that sits at the heart of our Maison,” says Jean-Marc Gallot, Veuve Clicquot’s Global President and CEO. “As we weave our solaire spirit into incredible locations around the world, what better setting to stage the ultimate picnic in Australia than the Great Barrier Reef?”
