Would You Go On An Eight-Month Cruise?
Ever thought about forgoing the daily grind and monthly mortgage repayments in favour of an eight-month, all-inclusive cruise around the world? Now’s your chance…
Scandinavian cruise line Viking Cruises recently announced the longest-ever continuous world cruise. Its itinerary covers six continents, 59 countries and 113 ports, with 22 overnights and a full circumnavigation of the globe spanning a whopping 245 days.
Departing from London on 31 August, 2019 on Viking Sun, this grand eight-month journey will mark Viking’s third voyage around the globe and will nearly double the length of the company’s previous World Cruise itineraries.
Destination highlights on this literal trip of a lifetime include Ushuaia, Argentina, the world’s southern-most city, commonly referred to as the “End of the World”; Mumbai, India, and Luxor, Egypt. In addition, the vessel will stop at eight all-new Viking ports in South America including Roseau, Dominica, La Serena (Coquimbo) and Iquique in Chile, Arequipa (Matarani), Pisco (General San Martín) and Lima (Callao) in Peru, Quito (Manta), Ecuador and Panama City (Fuerte Amador).
The award-winning Viking Sun was only built last year, and at 745 feet and accommodating 930 guests is considered a small ship in the cruising world, making it ideal for those wanting to stray from from the usual cruise fanfare of casinos, buffets and kiddy pools. The ship’s 7500L infinity pool and Snow Grotto also offers passengers the chance to become acquainted with the Scandinavian bathing ritual of hot/cold therapy.
Who’s ready for a (lengthy) holiday? It will set you back over $100,000, but you can’t put a price on experiences…
