Marriot International has announced the highly anticipated return of W Hotels Worldwide to Sydney in 2020 after a ten-year absence
The W is set to return to Sydney in 2020, with the new hotel marking the third Australian W hotel to launch alongside locations in Brisbane and Melbourne. Designed by highly acclaimed architect firm HASSELL, the ultramodern structure will overlook Darling Harbour and contribute an exciting addition to the waterside skyline. The hotel built and developed by Grocon and funded by Greaton Group seems to be made for Sydney’s glamorous metropolitan atmosphere, with the vision for the unique-looking building consisting of a selection of 593 rooms and apartments.
The building’s architecture will be particularly notable, with an oblong, curved exterior and a surface made up of glass windows reflecting Darling Harbour’s shimmering waters and vibrant city lights. Inside guests will find a restaurant and two bars.
Following the suite of other W Hotels, the new Sydney hotel will include an AWAY Spa, offering services of pristine relaxation such as vitality pools, relaxation pods, salt inhalation chambers ideal for a couple’s retreat, and aromatherapy rooms. Their signature WET Decks will have views overlooking the picturesque harbour and will host occasional summer series parties featuring live DJs and stunning lighting.
The rapid growth of developing W Hotel properties in Australia accompanies their fairly new expansions in Panama, Shanghai, and Amman. Richard Crawford, senior director of hotel development for W in Australia, said: “The property will be a game-changer for Sydney and an absolute market leader when it comes to luxury hotels in the city.”
The news of the arrival of the W Sydney comes just weeks after the opening of the W Brisbane. W Hotels has announced plans for a total of 75 hotel locations by 2020.
