About the hotel
The Hotel Eden is in a fantastic location, up on a hill in the middle of Rome’s Old City, flanked by the leafy gardens of the Villa Borghese. The building dates back to 1834 and has been a hotel since 1889. It has always been popular with Roman society and visiting celebrities – director Frederico Fellini had his own table at the rooftop restaurant. It has been through a number of incarnations and was most recently a Le Méridien. The property was taken over by the Dorchester Collection in late 2013 and there have been some small cosmetic changes to public areas, with plans in place for future refurbishment.

Unique features
The white gloved, top hatted doorman waiting outside to greet you is the first indication that this hotel takes service seriously. The Dorchester Collection is proud of its service standards and has been working to implement them across the hotel since it assumed management. Service is impeccable and discreet, with a wealth of local knowledge available from the concierge.
The suite experience
The rooms are nicely furnished in a classic Italian style with marble bathrooms, and many have views over the city through large windows, especially those on the higher floors. There’s a great use of fabrics with tapestry, luxe brocade and silky velvet curtains, and the high ceilings make the rooms feel larger than they are.

Dining
There are three dining options at Hotel Eden; the one Michelin star La Terrazza dell’Eden (considered one of the best restaurants in the city), the more informal Giardino dell’Eden with its stunning city views and the Bar La Terrazza, which serves caviar and oysters in the evening. The hotel also has a wine cellar where you can taste and purchase some local drops.

There is no spa on-site but the concierge can arrange an in-room massage or beauty treatment.
If you’d like an upgrade
Go straight for the top with the penthouse suite. The 100 square metre, one-bedroom suite is accessed by a private lift and has two bathrooms, two walk-in wardrobes, a dining table for six and windows on all sides for incredible views. If you need more space, it can be joined to the deluxe room next door for a second bedroom.
