Ultra-luxury yacht Scenic Eclipse to star in new Warner Bros. production

Scenic Eclipse - Ultra-luxury yacht

Australian-founded Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours has announced that its flagship vessel, Scenic Eclipse, is the subject of a new five-part docu-series by Warner Bros. Discovery.

Luxury cruise brand Scenic has just celebrated the maiden voyage of its new ultra-luxury Discovery Yacht, Scenic Eclipse II, which set sail on 13 April 2023 from Lisbon.

The introduction of Scenic Eclipse II, as the company’s second Discovery Yacht, now enables the Scenic Eclipse fleet to visit 500 ports, 63 countries, and seven continents during its 148 departures.

The Scenic Eclipse Discovery Yachts can accommodate 228 guests (200 in Antarctica), and provide close to a 1:1 guest-to-staff ratio, butler service, 10 dining experiences, an ultra-luxury spa, yoga, and Pilates studio, vitality pools and bars, two state-of-the-art helicopters, a submarine and, an expert Discovery Team.

At a media briefing in Sydney last week that Luxury Travel attended, senior executives Anthony Laver, Scenic Group GM Sales & Marketing APAC, and Katherine O’Neill, Director Scenic Global Marketing, Strategy, and Global Content also revealed the launch of a new original series titled ‘Maritime Masters: Expedition Antarctica’, produced by Warner Bros. Discovery in collaboration with Dundas Media.

The series will showcase life on board Scenic Eclipse and reveal what goes on behind the scenes of an ultra-luxury cruise operation. The series will premiere on Sunday 14 May on the Discovery Channel on Foxtel and will air internationally, in 20 languages, from mid-May.

The content will focus on three key themes: technology, culinary, and discovery — with an access-all-areas look at world-class professionals at sea and key characters from the Scenic crew, including Captain Erwan Le Rouzic; Executive Chef, Tom Götter; and Jason Flesher, Expedition Operations Manager.

Lynn Ng, VP, Head of Content Operations, APAC at Warner Bros. Discovery said: “A journey on board an ultra-luxury cruise ship is the stuff dreams are made of and as the leading global producer of real-life entertainment, there is no one better placed to bring this to life than Warner Bros. Discovery. We’re excited to launch Maritime Masters: Expedition Antarctica and by bringing it to a global audience through Discovery Channel and discovery+, we know we will fascinate and excite our viewers around the world with the stories of the characters along the way.”

Anthony Laver added, “This original Maritime Masters: Expedition Antarctica docu-series features a journey narrated via our passionate captains and professional crew, as they deliver unique experiences to the discerning guests. Viewers will gain deep insights into the diverse wildlife, landscapes, challenges, and operation of the world’s most advanced discovery yacht.”
