The portfolio behind Longitude 131° has revealed plans for a new nine-suite retreat close to Uluṟu, offering a more intimate form of luxury accommodation in the Red Centre from early 2028

Those searching for ultra-luxury accommodation near Uluṟu have long had one answer: Longitude 131°. That is set to change in 2028, when Beckons – the portfolio formerly known as Baillie Lodges, which rebranded in March 2026 – opens a second property adjacent to Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park. Nine suites will be on offer at the new property, each with a private plunge pool and an unobstructed view of the world-famous rock.

The new Uluṟu lodge is the first new build under the Beckons banner, which also encompasses the five former Baillie Lodges properties: Longitude 131° at Uluṟu, Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island, Capella Lodge on Lord Howe Island, Silky Oaks Lodge at the Daintree and The Louise in the Barossa. They sit alongside Huka Lodge in New Zealand, Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge in Canada, and Tierra Atacama and Tierra Patagonia in Chile.

The new property has been designed to settle into the Uluṟu landscape. JAWS Architects have focused on the Red Centre’s palette in their brief, with the building sitting low in the dune landscape with materials, tones and textures drawn from the surrounding country. Eight Desert Suites and a single multi-room Desert Pavilion will open onto private plunge pools and outdoor daybeds fitted with luxury swags. The night sky above Uluṟu will also form a central part of the experience.

First Nations culture will be central to the lodge experience, with each suite featuring a unique commissioned artwork interpreting Kungkarangkalpa – the Seven Sisters – a significant Aṉangu Creation story told in the stars above the Central and Western Deserts. Ongoing partnerships with Ernabella Arts, Tjanpi Desert Weavers, Tjala Arts and the APY Art Centre Collective will further shape the guest experience, with expert guides leading immersive time on Country shaped by thousands of years of story.

Plans for the lodge were approved following ecological, heritage and sacred sites assessments, with Traditional Custodians engaged throughout via Yulara Aṉangu Corporation. The lodge name and a confirmed opening date will follow as construction timelines are finalised.

Beckons’ new Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa lodge is projected to open in early 2028.
