An all-inclusive Arctic lodge is coming to Norway’s most mountainous island

Norrøna Lodge is set to open at Andørja in June 2027 – the first in a growing network of adventure lodges linking Norway’s most remote northern coastline by sea

Norwegian outdoor brand Norrøna has announced a new all-inclusive lodge on Norway‘s Andørja, Northern Europe’s most mountainous island, expected to open in June 2027.

The Norrøna Lodge at Andørja is the first property in the brand’s planned Arctic Voyage concept – a growing network of lodges to be connected by sea along one of Norway’s most remote northern coastlines. Designed in partnership with Oslo practice Dark Arkitekter, the lodge has been built around the existing site rather than clearing it: the main building began life as a research centre for basking sharks and remains in place, while 15 guest cabins are prefabricated off-site, transported to the island by sea and craned onto timber poles above the ground. There is no road access anywhere on the property, with guests arriving by boat from the airport, weather permitting.

The cabins are designed to accommodate up to 30 guests at a time and are constructed from solid timber insulated with wood-fibre material. On-site facilities are expected to include a lounge and bar, restaurant, two wood-fired saunas and a Norrøna shop. Boardwalks conceal the infrastructure throughout the site.

Open year-round, the program will be shaped around each season. Summer activities are expected to include skiing on untouched terrain, hiking, mountaineering and trail running beneath the midnight sun. In winter, the island becomes a basecamp for northern lights viewing, snowshoeing and fishing in Arctic waters. Local guides will introduce guests to Andørja’s fishing traditions and communities, and the neighbouring islands of Rolla, Grytøya and Senja are accessible by the lodge’s aluminium tender. Every stay is planned to be fully inclusive, covering guiding, dining, recovery and end-to-end transport.

The kitchen is planned to draw from the surrounding environment, with menus built around fresh Arctic produce including king crab, sea urchin, and foraged berries and wild herbs.

“We’re building base camps for guests who come here to ski, hike, bike or climb, whatever their experience level,” says Jørgen Jørgensen, CEO and fourth-generation owner of Norrøna, who founded the brand in 1929. The Andørja lodge joins Canvas Telemark, Norrøna’s mountain biking hotel in Southern Norway, and Varg S/Y, its expedition sailing yacht, as part of a growing portfolio of adventure destinations across the country.
