Regent Santa Monica Beach’s summer debut is set to bring Mediterranean and Jamaican tastes to the Los Angeles area in a palatial resort
The American debut of Regent Hotels & Resorts is set for the Northern Hemisphere summer with the opening of Regent Santa Monica Beach. The launch of Regent Santa Monica Beach follows the successful openings of Carlton Cannes and Regent Hong Kong, as IHG Hotels & Resorts continues to expand its presence globally.
The new hotel will be located steps from the legendary Santa Monica Pier and feature a beachfront pool deck as well as a 10,000 square foot wellness spa created in partnership with Guerlain. Guests to Regent Santa Monica Beach can also expect beach butler service and chef-driven culinary destinations.
The new hotel is a partnership between Andre Zotoff, Chief Executive Officer of ownership group Strategic Hotels & Resorts, which has owned the property for more than 20 years, and Regent Hotels & Resorts. The hotel boasts a budget exceeding $150 million USD and designs by firms including AvroKo and Wimberly Interiors.
Regent Santa Monica Beach will have 24 suites and 143 guest rooms, with the two-storey Atrium Suites on the second and third floors boasting 2,180 square feet with ocean-facing views. The largest suite – the Santa Monica Presidential Suite – is housed on the eighth floor and will feature a game room, separate living room and four Juliet balconies.
Orla, the hotel’s signature restaurant, is a new concept in partnership with James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Mina. Alongside Mina, Regent Santa Monica Beach will partner with celebrity entrepreneur and philanthropist Ayesha Curry and her lifestyle brand, Sweet July, which offers high-quality bespoke products from Black-owned and women-owned brands. Additionally, a newly designed menu inspired by Curry’s Jamaican roots will include cafe staples like Sweet July’s signature coffee, tea, pastries and desserts.
Guests of the soon-to-open Regent Santa Monica Beach can expect to experience Regent’s brand hallmarks, from personal havens throughout the resort to personalised selections for each guest including scent, music, literature and more. Stays will be curated by Regent Experience Agents based on guests’ individual preferences.
