The Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat’s freshly redesigned Villa Beauchamp and Villa Clair Soleil play on Mediterranean and dreamlike themes

The Grand Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat unveils its two residences newly redecorated by Sybille de Margerie: Villa Beauchamp and Villa Clair Soleil. Sybille de Margerie was inspired by the early 20th century seaside style and the French Riviera’s charm to infuse the residences with an elegant and sunny colour palette.

At Villa Beauchamp, golden hues combine with shades of green and blue in an effort to mimic the sea and land of the Mediterranean. The lemon-yellow entrance walls are complemented by a gold leaf ceiling that supports the porcelain scale chandelier designed by Sylvie Maréchal.

Painter Claire Basler was commissioned to create a dining room fresco inspired by the garden’s umbrella pines while designer Karine Drasik’s curtains are embroidered with mimosa flowers. Modernity peeks into the villa through incorporation of a marble bar and bronze finishes. Wood and ratan complement the leather and brass accents throughout the ground floor.

Rooms on the first and second floors of Villa Beauchamp offer sea views. Artist Véronique de Soultrait designed a wall decor for the master bedroom using rope marquetry, a material from the south of France that has been embellished with gold leaf accents. The terrazzo flooring is bordered like a tapestry while the adjoining bathroom features a mosaic floor, designed as homage to the frescoes by Jean Cocteau at the nearby Villa Santo Sospir. White and ecru tones sprinkled through the upper floor bedrooms and the independent pavilion, which features two luxe suites, are intended to mimic sails.

The bronzed tones of the cinema room are meant to mimic the setting sun while the fitness facility complements the exclusive amenities of Villa Beauchamp.

Built in the mid-20th century, Villa Clair Soleil features a living area that opens onto a panoramic terrace. Sybille de Margerie focused on serene colour palettes and refined minimalism to infuse tranquillity into Villa Clair Soleil.

The dining room is adorned with intertwining scrolls and foliage to evoke the allure of a winter garden. This is illuminated by the chandelier designed by Andreea Braescu, which features white biscuit and porcelain elements. Marble flooring is found throughout the living room and features touches of red and orange hues as if reflecting the sunlight.

Upstairs, the two bedroom interiors were designed to evoke the allure of dawn. Artist Cécile Gauneau’s hand-painted mural depicts waves and their imprints upon sandy shores. Guests enticed by the artist’s waves can take a dip in the villa’s pool that features direct access to the garden.
