Suite Life: Grand Hotel Tremezzo, Lake Como

Suite/Hotel Info

Why stay here?

The century-old Grand Hotel Tremezzo is an art nouveau masterpiece on the shores of Lake Como adjacent to the famed Villa Carlotta gardens. Recently refurbished, the spacious three-room Emilia suite is in the 18th-century Villa Emilia, in its own wing to the side of the main hotel and attached to the spa. From the vaulted ceilings and antiques to the marble bathroom, it’s incredibly beautiful. But plan well ahead as this hotel can be booked out for months.

Look & Feel

Wow factor

The bathroom in the Emilia suite is a work of art in Lasa marble and glass with a steam bath, double rain shower and oversized Jacuzzi in the centre of the room. You may never want to leave, but if you do, take the ferry and hop from village to village on the lake, starting with Bellagio.

Eat In

Rise & shine breakfast time?

A delicious breakfast is served on the verandah overlooking the lake with views of Bellagio. In a word, superb.

What’s for dinner?

A star of modern Italian cuisine, Gualtiero Marchesi, aided by expert chef Osvaldo Presazzi, oversees a fine-dining experience not easily forgotten. That is, if you’re not already overwhelmed by the breathtaking view across Lago di Como from the La Terrazza restaurant. Living doesn’t get much better.

Treat Yourself

Time out

The Hotel’s T Spa has possibly one of the world’s most beautiful infinity pools. The spa exclusively uses “ESPA” skincare and spa treatments. Try the Hammam Suite for an authentic Turkish steamroom experience.

I would like an upgrade

The hotel’s pinnacle is, literally at the top, a Rooftop Penthouse, created by combining a Corner Suite and a Front Suite (the entire rooftop can be reserved on request). Each self-contained apartment has a drawing room, bedroom and exquisitely appointed marble bathroom, all opening out onto a spacious terrace, with a private mini-pool and a spectacular view.

Special Touches

Could do better

The Grand Tremezzo should be ashamed of the huge assortment of premium lollies in the lobby, despite the apparent delight of kids young and old. The hotel is one premium establishment on Lake Como that welcomes children.

Insider tip

The Grand Hotel Tremezzo boasts the “only and most exclusive private beach on Lake Como” and a beautiful 2ha private park adjoining the Villa Carlotta gardens. Please remember us too, George Clooney.
