This Tour Company Has Launched Women-Only Trips

Wilderness Scotland

Wilderness Scotland aims to inspire women to participate in outdoor exploration and develop skills and knowledge of the natural world

Adventure tour operator Wilderness Scotland has unveiled an assortment of women-only guided tours taking place throughout 2019. This will be the first time the tour operator has offered the gendered trips, which have “been devised to be even more inclusive to women who want to adventure in the wilderness,” according to the company’s website.

The small-group tours will include activities like sea kayaking among the Summer Isles and hiking the West Highland Way, all with expert guiding, cosy accommodation and exciting itineraries designed to encourage more women to enjoy the outdoors alongside like-minded female adventurers.

Travellers don’t need any experience or background in the outdoors to enjoy the tours, with the operator inviting all women who love hiking, cycling, kayaking, and other recreational activities to express their interest.

The women-only tours on offer include:

Sea Kayaking – Introduction Course

Participants will develop their kayaking skills on this breathtaking five-day adventure in the North West Highlands. With the guidance of a highly-qualified kayak instructor, they’ll paddle their way through the gorgeous Upper Loch Torridon before experiencing sea kayaking in the Applecross Peninsula.

Wilderness Walking – Wilds of Assynt

This week-long hiking trip takes adventurers up the Scottish mountains (including a rare hike on Ben Mor Coigach), and down to the coast of The Old Man of Stoer for a well-rounded trip of Assynt. It also includes a cruise through the Summer Isles where they’ll have the chance to relax or spot aquatic life beneath the turquoise waters.

Mountain Biking – Coast to Coast

Awarded Trips of the Year by Outside Magazine, this coast to coast adventure is for the more experienced mountain bikers. It is a week-long ride starting from Aberdeen and ending in Ardnamurchan.
