Gleneagles collaborates with The Macallan on wilderness experiences

Gleneagles estate’s sprawling grounds

Whisky enthusiasts can sample premium flights from The Macallan while enjoying the beauty and tranquillity of Gleneagles estate’s sprawling grounds on these new experiences co-curated by the luxury brands.

The renowned Gleneagles in Perthshire, Scotland, has partnered with The Macallan, one of the world’s most prestigious whisky producers, on a series of immersive guest experiences.

By a small loch on the grounds of the 850-acre estate, two transparent domes accommodating up to four guests have been installed for the experiences, which take place in the afternoon and evening. Gleneagles guests can either set out on foot for a guided journey via the old Glen Devon drovers walking route or be transported in the property’s Land Rover Defender.

For the afternoon experience, guests will receive a bottle of champagne on arrival with a picnic containing charcuterie, Gleneagles & Co smoked salmon, cheeses, hearty and healthy salads and a selection of sides; finished with freshly baked cakes and scones. Three Macallan cocktails, which are said to be inspired by the Scottish surroundings, are on hand to sample.

The second pod contains a selection of botany and birdwatching books that align with the local area, alongside binoculars for guests to try and spot some of the abundant wildlife. A mini-flight of two Macallan drams back in the hotel’s Century Bar concludes the day.

The Gloaming evening experience is named after an old Scottish phrase meaning to become twilight. A hot toddy hip flask will accompany guests en route to the domes, where self-guided stargazing awaits. Board games, charcuterie and cheese, and a range of Macallan drams from the Malt Vault complete the experience.

These by the Lochan experiences will be available year-round, with themes changing to reflect the season. Prices start from £500 (about AUD$870) for two people.
