Abercrombie & Kent Launches Peru Riverboat

The Peruvian riverboat by Abercrombie & Kent brings luxury river cruising to the remote reaches of the Amazon River

Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group has announced the launch of its new Peruvian riverboat, which is set to embark on its maiden voyage in April 2025. The boat is the company’s first riverboat in South America, and will offer guests a journey into the region’s secluded wonders.

This new venture is the result of a collaboration between Abercrombie & Kent and its expedition yacht brand in the Galapagos, Ecoventura, drawing on Ecoventura’s experience building and operating luxury expedition vessels in the sensitive environment of the Galapagos Islands. The Peruvian riverboat will combine the brands’ expertise, sustainability and attention to detail in the heart of the Amazon.

The new riverboat features ten double cabins and two single cabins. Each suite showcases local materials and artistry while featuring views of the ever-changing landscapes through floor to ceiling windows.

The riverboat’s three and four night itineraries aim to show guests the untamed beauty and diverse cultures of the Amazon. Guests aboard will explore Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, potentially encountering wildlife like the pink river dolphins and three-toed sloths and engaging with indigenous communities.

These voyages can be combined to create an immersive seven night experience, exploring both the Marañon and Ucayali rivers, with all journeys starting and ending in the port town of Nauta, a short transfer from the city of Iquitos, which houses the nearest airport.

The riverboat’s eco-friendly skiffs allow guests to immerse themselves in the Amazon through fishing in the Samiria River to jungle walks under the dense canopy. Additional activities include kayaking or canoeing through tributaries, stargazing on the upper deck and sundowners or enjoying breakfasts aboard the skiffs.

The A&K Philanthropy (AKP) brings the mission of supporting local communities to the Amazon, fostering connections between guests and the region’s indigenous peoples by offering insights into their lives and traditions. Guests may visit local schools supported by AKP, engage with community members and learn about traditional ways of life.

The onboard dining experience features a menu that celebrates the diverse culinary heritage of the Amazon. Meanwhile, the outdoor swimming pool provides a space to unwind, while the massage room and gym offer treatments and wellness experiences inspired by Amazonian traditions. The indoor and outdoor lounge and bar areas allow guests to socialise and reflect on their experiences. With a 1:1 guest-to-staff ratio, the new riverboat ensures personalised attention and service.

Bookings for Abercrombie & Kent’s new Peruvian riverboat are available from June, with three and four night itineraries departing from Iquitos to Nauta.
