The luxury cruise liner Scenic has announced a new submersible experience in the Great Barrier Reef aboard Scenic Neptune II.

Scenic has announced that its recently launched luxury cruise ship, Scenic Eclipse II, will offer a new underwater experience for passengers to explore the depths of Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef aboard its Scenic Neptune II submersible.

The eight-passenger vessel has been custom-designed with Triton Submarines and will dive up to 200 metres below the surface to provide views of the reef and its vibrant inhabitants.

Operating in marine-protected environments, Scenic Neptune II has been equipped with technology such as GPS Dynamic Positioning, which negates the need to drop anchor on the sensitive seabed, and an advanced azipod propulsion system designed to minimise noise and vibration, reducing disturbance, and improving manoeuvrability, according to Scenic.

Guests booking Australia’s Top End: Cape York & Arnhem Land aboard Scenic Eclipse II, which travels from Cairns to Darwin, will have the opportunity to board the submersible and gain a new perspective of one of Australia’s most incredible natural attractions. The 11-day journey departs on 30 April 2024.

Scenic Eclipse II was launched by the luxury cruise liner in April 2023, with enhanced wellness experiences and an owner’s penthouse suite, among other elevated onboard features.
