The luxury partnership brings two of Tasmania’s best luxury experiences together, just in time for holiday goers to beat the winter blues
Tasmania’s Maria Island Walk has partnered with Saffire Freycinet and luxury waterfront Hobart hotel MACq 01 to create the Winter Wilderness Escape. This five night opportunity embraces Tasmania’s east coast with outdoor activities, luxury accommodation and local cuisine in some of the state’s most iconic locations.
Guests begin their journey with a one-night stay at Hobart’s storytelling hotel, MACq 01. Sweeping views of the harbour and kunanyi/Mount Wellington provide the perfect setting for visitors to immerse themselves in Hobart’s history and rich culture, waterfront beauty and culinary delights.
Following this first night, guests will experience a three-day fully guided Winter Escape Walk on Maria Island that explores ancient forests and world-heritage sites. After each day’s walk, guests can spend evenings at the newly re-designed historic Bernacchi House in Darlington – the only heritage-listed house in a Convict World Heritage area. An aperitif by the fireplace and a chance to see the starry southern skies is followed by a three-course meal featuring Tasmania’s produce.
The last two nights of the Winter Wilderness Escape are spent at the award-winning Saffire Freycinet. This Luxury Lodges of Australia property is on the edge of Tasmania’s Freycinet National Park. Afterwards, guests are transferred back to Hobart.
Saffire Freycinet offers an ideal home base from which guests can explore the secluded coves along Great Oyster Bay, book a restorative treatment at Spa Saffire or relax on their private balcony while soaking up views of the Hazards Mountains. Dining at Palate restaurant brings guests to the tables of one of Australia’s most revered fine dining restaurants with tasting menus changing daily.
Prices for the Winter Wilderness Escape start from $9,770 for two people including all accommodation, most meals and beverages and transfers as well as signature experiences, tours and the fully inclusive Maria Island Walk with private guides. The Winter Wilderness Escape is available on selected departures from 10 May through to 20 August 2024.
